In the Monfort Contemporary Art Space, formerly a salt storehouse, I used different elements and means of expression to create a spatial installation that spoke to the visitor on several levels. My intention was for the visitor to enter into the work itself, to become part of the art installation, so to speak, to experience it physically, not only at the level of sight. I followed Duchamp’s thesis that “it’s the viewers that make the work”. This means that “the work of art is never final, never finished, but is a form of activity created by the projection, the gaze of the spectator”. I was interested in the fusion of different genres of art, from light and music to poetry and sound, and, of course, how to bring all of these together in a visual image and combine them into a universal work of art that corresponds to the space and, consequently, transforms and changes it. I pursued the idea that none of the elements that make up the final work of art illustrate the other, but rather complement, enhance and build upon each other, ultimately coming together to create an artistic experience. I created it with a team of collaborators: Andrej Kamnik, a painter and animation master, brought the graphics to life, while Mateja Starič, a composer and sound designer, wrote the original music and in her own voice interpreted the text by writer and philosopher Predrag Finci from Sarajevo.
