Emil Memon - Washington Sq. Valhalla (12:16)
Subtitle: The Urban Trilogy
Production: Emil Memon, 2015
Emil Memon envisaged the video on a hot day in August while sitting in Washington Square and playing with some of the music Apps on his IPad. He then layered electronics and beat and recorded the song in his friend’s Brooklyn music studio with his vocals and artist few violin tracks by the artist Leyna Papach. To match the track with visuals he shot at night the waves of Hudson River and lights of Hoboken and Jersey City from West Side Chelsea pier. He took a static scene of the waves of the sea and t...

Emil Memon - Twilight of the Gods (09:33)
Subtitle: The Urban Trilogy
Production: Emil Memon, 2016
Video was shot in NYC’s Soho, once an important neighborhood for the arts, a number of galleries and artists living and working there, including Emil Memon for a few years. The streets in 2016 seem to be more abandoned and empty than in the time of the flourishing Soho art scene. Artist Hayley MacCulloch contributed vocal on top of my guitar track for the soundtrack. Emil Memon - On the Run, an American song (08:05)
Production: Emil Memon, 2018
“On the Run, an American song” is Emil Memon’s song dealing with anguish and paranoia of American life. It is a cinematic song, lyrics describing young lovers, like in Hollywood movies, running away from the law across the vast U.S., something out of Arthur Pen’s “Bonnie and Clyde”. Lyrics have a reference to Lou Reed’s “Berlin” record. As a video work and visual art, the visuals are reduced to static with minimal jumps of images. The image as direct as...

Emil Memon - Caravaggio / Slayer (09:19)
Production: Emil Memon, 1994
Caravaggio video is part of the set of videos (Salvator Mundi, Gandhi and Salt, Architectural Triptych) from the early 1990s when Memon did research at a Photo/Slide library at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC), interested in great works of art and the nature of representation, documentation, and the literal physicality of the image itself. The video was made on the artist’s musical track Slayer. It turned the morphing of the image/painting itself into mediation. It was presented at his art shows i...

Uršula Berlot - Orcinus Orca (06:08)
Production: Uršula Berlot, 2019
The video for the track Orcinus Orca followed the release of the album Algida Bellezza (Alessandro Tedeschi aka Netherworld, Glacial Movements, 2019). The music captured the artist’s imaginations of coldness and isolation as well as visions of shiny spectacles produced by sharpened light projected into immersive underwater deepness. Killer Whale (Orcinus Orca), one of Arctic animals threatened by extinction caused by environmental changes, is a metaphorical expression of icy beauty and power grounded...

Uršula Berlot - Cast to the Bottom (02:38)
Production: Uršula Berlot, 2017
Video created for the track Cast to the Bottom from the album The Great Crater by Scanner (Glacial Movements, 2017). Composed of landscape 3d digital simulation and digitally processed video recordings, the video shows a virtual journey through an imaginary underwater landscape. Landscape segments are reminiscent of Berlot’s previously realized works of art – the topography of magnetic fluids and light sculptures. The dreamlike quality of video comes from the uncertainty of recognizing tem...
