Video Evening with DIVA Station is an event that usually takes place live at the Photon Gallery. The conversation with retired career contemporary artist Milena Kosec was recorded in April, at a time when it was not yet possible to organize live cultural events due to the epidemic of the new coronavirus. DIVA Station associate Vesna Bukovec talked to the artist in the SCCA-Ljubljana Project Room at Metelkova 6. We supplemented the recorded conversation with inserts of video, photo and online documentation of Milena Kosec's past work. The video premiered on the SCCA-Ljubljana and Photon Gallery websites on 10 June 2021. In the conversation, Milena Kosec remembers the management of the Vila Katarina gallery, the creation of the multi-layered conceptual project The Scarecrow Statelet (Državica Ptičjestrašilna), the career path of a contemporary artist, decisions for non-material work and artistic retirement. As part of her artistic work, she addressed issues of institutional control, issues of memory and the actual value of everyday objects and overload with them. She also dealt with questions of the value of material and intellectual work and with the various positions of the artist within the art world and in wider society. She contributed a collection of video documentation of exhibition events and art projects to the archives of the DIVA Station. (Source: DIVA Station)
